Stylish, gorgeous coffee......

I've had my cream Artisan Espresso machine for about a month now and I'm delighted with it. I had wanted to move on from stove top mocha express devises and had been researching pumped Espresso machines for a while, the KitchenAid took me with a first glance! This is a stunning piece of industrial design, infinitely better looking in the flesh than in pictures and if you fall for it's looks than nothing else will do!So how dose it perform? Wonderfully well! The very first shot of Espresso pulled was just great including a near perfect creama, what more could you ask for? There is no point in me regurgitating the technical specifications of the machine but I'm sure that the twin boilers are a considerable asset because the brew water is never over heated while you have steam ready all the time and of course once you are adept you can brew and steam at the same time. I'm inclined to think that a commercial grade 58mm chrome plated brass portafilter is essential as this really dose hold its temperature and leads to greater consistency. The supplied tiny plastic tamper is really quite inadequate other than to get you started, I've now purchased a Reg Barber one which is an immense improvement allowing the ideal compacting of any grind of coffee into the portafilter, this is important as it's one of the greatest influences on the extraction of the coffee. The supplied milk jug is nice but a little on the small side, only suitable for single helpings of Cappuccino, no big deal really as a twin shot of Espresso makes one Cappuccino!Negatives! Right, the largest hassle with the Artisan is the change from steam to hot water and this dose take a bit of time, your expecting water but end up with spitting steam, the manual dose remark on this but it's a pain, you need a largish jug to dump this into because it's quite messy, no, very messy! I was making Americano the other day and got this wrong, we are talking coffee everywhere here! This is something I have not as yet sorted out, again no big deal as a kettle is simpler anyway!In conclusion this is a great Espresso machine and I am recommending it, there is also a matching coffee grinder that I will be purchasing soon, these will look beautiful together and I will post my experience with it soon.If you are considering a pumped Espresso machine and you like the look of the KitchenAid, just go for it! It is the real thing!

Day 1, and I already love it!

The KitchenAid range was recommended by a friend and as soon as I saw pictures I wanted one. I was concerned by some of the online reviews, after all these years of waiting and at this price I didn't want to be disappointed. I took the plunge and mine was finally delivered today.So, I followed the instructions and set up; I met with problems from the word go. I started to clean the two boilers as instructed. The machine was so noisy and loud when I switched on the pump I was sure something wasn't quite right. I pressed on though, first cleaning the brewing boiler which although loud seemed to work. Next I tried cleaning the frothing boiler but I had no luck with this at all and whatever I tried could not get any water out of the frothing nozzle. This problem had been noted in many of the reviews I'd read. I gave up in the end and decided to froth some milk and make my first coffee.I'd never used an espresso machine before and my first attempt was poor, tasting nothing like the coffee house cappuccino I love. The milk frothed ok, but the espresso shot was weak and my cappuccino tasted equally watery. I read 'troubleshooting' again and decided it must be to do with the siphon hoses. BINGO! The noise disappeared and a second attempt at dispensing hot water was an instant success. The key here seems to be to make sure the clear siphon tube (not the black one) touches the bottom of the water tank. My machine was delivered with the tube about half way into the tank (which I thought was odd) - a gentle pull cured this and now the tube rests on the bottom.Brilliant, my second cup was much improved and really smooth. I even managed to get the elusive crema and I have high hopes of improvement with some more practice.I agree that the accessories provided with the machine are only a basic starter kit and I will be investing in a tamper, a larger jug and a milk thermometer really soon.Until then it's practice makes perfect (I won't be sleeping tonight - I' buzzing with caffeine!!). I'd say go for it and I'm looking forward to enjoying my machine.

Moderate delight

This may be because I am not doing it right; because the coffee is too or not well enough ground but ... I simply can't get this machine to produce a good creme. Having owned fully automatic machines by Jura and Gaggia in the past (once they break down that's it) this was a bit disappointing. I can live with coffee from a cafetiere (excellent) but you really miss the occasional espresso. So far - four weeks in - I haven't managed it with this machine. The coffee seems wet and burnt. It is a solid, well made machine but it is not doing what I want. Nor have I found it great at frothing milk but I don't like hot milk and rarely use it so this may be a factor.

I've had my cream Artisan Espresso machine for about a month now and I'm delighted with it. form fails function

This is a pretty kettle, and works well enough, but there are enough bugs to warrant serious complaint at this price. i'll do it as a list:1. It is a lovely stylish shape, but the narrow top makes it hard to fill from the tap, and when full near the limit, water gets "locked" somehow in the neck of the kettle, only coming out at a trickle. also, the shape makes it smaller than other kettles, and it is very, very, fussy about being overfilled.2. It is lovely smooth, enameled, metal on the exterior; but with little or no insulation. this means that the kettle is far to hot to lift except by the handle, and the shape of the handle means that my knuckles bang against it often... ouch3. All of the necessary functions are "digitally" controlled from the lovely handle, this includes a "digital" water gauge. this is, without doubt, the most over engineered, and unsuccessful piece of the whole kettle. the water gauge measure only 5 different volume-levels in the kettle; you either have too little, too much, or somewhere in the middle. and it's an approximation at best: if you move the kettle, then the water splashes around, and the gauge reads fuller than it actually is for quite a while as the (i presume) sensors in the, stupidly complex, kettle dry out. at times, this gauge goes totally wonky, assuring you that the kettle is full when in fact bone dry. this then makes the kettle turn itself off with a loud "pop," before sulking off in a dark mood for a moment or two. at other times, it decides that the kettle is too full to work... all in all, a simple window in the side would have done the job a whole lot better, with more precision and accuracy.4. The digital functions are battery back-upped, so the lovely display still reads when you are filling it (so that you can continue to be misled about how much water is in the kettle, even when it isn't plugged in!) however, the battery life, according to the manual, is only two years; and it needs to be changed by a registered dealer. i can hear, well designed, cash registers ker-chinging for years as i type.on top of which, it actually isn't all that quick, the build quality seems no better than my old siemens kettle and it is bloody expensive.looks nice, though, and i suppose if you find convernsation difficult with your guests, this kettle is one way to get started.

Do not waste your money on this kettle. I bought the white version and started having problems with it after 1 week! It looks beautiful but lacks functionality. It is extremely sensitive about being over filled, due to its' shape it is awkward to fill, it regularly needs a total reset to work, the paint is peeling off, the lid no longer closes and the customer care service in Italy is non existent. Beautiful Junk

Looks uber cool upon unpacking, but paint is peeling and temperature control is not working.We've never tried to do anything fancy with it - just press one button to boil. Less then a year after the paint is gone from the button, there is rust inside, display shows gibberish and temperature control doesn't stop the boiling.Here comes the dumpster.

form fails function

This is a pretty kettle, and works well enough, but there are enough bugs to warrant serious complaint at this price. i'll do it as a list:1. It is a lovely stylish shape, but the narrow top makes it hard to fill from the tap, and when full near the limit, water gets "locked" somehow in the neck of the kettle, only coming out at a trickle. also, the shape makes it smaller than other kettles, and it is very, very, fussy about being overfilled.2. It is lovely smooth, enameled, metal on the exterior; but with little or no insulation. this means that the kettle is far to hot to lift except by the handle, and the shape of the handle means that my knuckles bang against it often... ouch3. All of the necessary functions are "digitally" controlled from the lovely handle, this includes a "digital" water gauge. this is, without doubt, the most over engineered, and unsuccessful piece of the whole kettle. the water gauge measure only 5 different volume-levels in the kettle; you either have too little, too much, or somewhere in the middle. and it's an approximation at best: if you move the kettle, then the water splashes around, and the gauge reads fuller than it actually is for quite a while as the (i presume) sensors in the, stupidly complex, kettle dry out. at times, this gauge goes totally wonky, assuring you that the kettle is full when in fact bone dry. this then makes the kettle turn itself off with a loud "pop," before sulking off in a dark mood for a moment or two. at other times, it decides that the kettle is too full to work... all in all, a simple window in the side would have done the job a whole lot better, with more precision and accuracy.4. Please dont waste your money

I purchased this kettle as i really wanted a wow factor kettle. this really is 10/10 for looks. However the on/off lettering rubbed off afer two weeks and after four weeks the kettle stopped working. Pure and utter junk and i am awaiting Bugatti to collect the kettle and return my money.

Bugatti Kettles....Don't Bother

This is our second attempt with this kettle and is being returned after five days. We really should have paid attention to previous reviews but were advised that a new batch had resolved the problems. This is not the case! This is an expensive item and is really not worth the effort. Bugatti should stick to what they know as they don't seem to be able to make reliable kettles!

Similar to other reviews I have had to return two of these kettles as they were faulty. After just 2 weeks the kettle completley stopped working and we had to resort to boiling water on a pan, not what you expect for £185! Does really look very good and we had loads of comments about it from friends and family but it simply does not work! Awaiting a refund. Avoid this product.
